PCI’s First High School Club Is Here!

We’re excited to launch our first-ever high school afterschool club this semester: Film Club!

Students grades 9-12 will:
• Create their own original short film
• Learn filming, storytelling, and editing
• Showcase their work at a public screening in April
• Work with our amazing, local filmmaker Christi Bode and art teacher extraordinaire Ms. Ogier

This club will be happening on Tuesdays, starting in February and wrapping up in April.

Classes will run from 4:00–5:30 PM in Mrs. Lewis’s art room!

No experience needed, just bring your creativity.

We’re so excited to shine our next Staff Spotlight on Randye Taylor, a true part of the heart of PCI!

Randye began her journey with us 3 years ago as an AmeriCorps member, supporting families in need.

She later became our first-ever Youth Programming Director, leading our growing afterschool programs and helping guide us through all the exciting growing pains that come with expansion. After a short break, Randye returned to PCI as a Family Advocate and has been amazing in this role ever since.

As a longtime Pagosa local, PCI is truly part of her family. So much so, her son has even worked for us, and her daughter has participated in many of our afterschool programs.

At PCI, we really are a family, and Randye is a beautiful example of what that looks like. We’re so grateful to have her with us!

We also currently have 10 clubs that really let these kids dive deeper into their passions (with more are coming soon)!

Marie joined the PCI family this year as a Site Supervisor at the elementary school. With a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development from California State University, she has nearly 20 years of experience in the child development field.

Marie brings incredible knowledge, heart, and dedication to our program. She believes deeply that strong, nurturing relationships are the foundation for children to thrive, and she lives that belief every single day.

Marie is especially excited to be part of PCI because our programs have supported her own daughters, Sage and Willow, over the years.

As our first session of Wilderness Warriors has come to a close, we’re celebrating 6 weeks of growth, connection, and adventure!

We watched these amazing kids build confidence, support one another, and develop a deeper appreciation for the natural world.

WOW, Pagosa Springs! Our Chrystal Snow Memorial Toy Drive was a HUGE success, and our hearts are so full.

This year, because of YOU, we were able to bring Christmas joy to nearly 300 children in our community—up from 125 children last year!

This incredible accomplishment was truly a community effort, and we could not have done it without the support of so many amazing people.

We are accepting new and gently used items, and every donation really makes a difference for local families.

Items we’re looking for:
• 1 Play Pen
• Wipes & Diapers
• Winter Clothing (18m–2T & 6–12 months)

Community United Methodist Church (CUMC)

CUMC is more than a church, it’s a welcoming hub of support for Pagosa.

Their ministries include a Food Pantry, Thrift Store, Children & Youth Programs, Music & Outdoor Ministries, and Creation Care initiatives.

The Food Pantry is open Tues–Thurs, 10 a.m.–12 p.m. at 434 Lewis St.

They also offer an after-hours food support line: 970-585-6381.

Plus, they have a some additional help during the holidays:
• Nov 18–20: Frozen turkey + holiday essentials distribution
• Nov 25–26: Pantry open (closed Thanksgiving Day)
• Serving as a drop-off site for the Chrystal Snow Memorial Toy Drive — bring new, unwrapped toys!

We’ve got an Employee of the Month!

PCI is proud to highlight Gracie, @gracieee.kateee one of our dedicated site supervisors who supports both the elementary and middle school programs.

Gracie also co-leads our Friday Wilderness Warriors group, bringing creativity, curiosity, and adventure to every outdoor session.

Gracie has been part of PCI for over five years, beginning her journey as a HS intern. Over the years, she’s had the incredible opportunity to watch the program evolve and grow, forming connections with countless inspiring people along the way. The children, she says, have been her greatest source of motivation and purpose.

Now in her final year of college, Gracie is earning her bachelor’s degree in Psychology of Child Development and plans to pursue a Master of Science in Child Life to further support children and families in healthcare settings.

When she’s not at PCI, you can find Gracie outdoors—climbing, biking, skiing, or doing just about any activity that allows her to appreciate the beauty of the world around her.

We’re so grateful to have Gracie’s passion, energy, and heart as part of the PCI team! 💛

We’ve still got more Fridays ahead, and we’re crossing our fingers for a little snow so we can add some winter magic to our adventures ❄️

Because of local businesses, neighbors, and families who continue to “adopt a shelf,” our office is stocked with emergency items that truly make a difference for those who need a little support.

Families are so grateful to have these essentials available when unexpected needs come up. 💛
